Manna Defined

Recently, I've been asked about the purpose of this blog so I thought I'd share the first introduction blog again. If you're a regular reader I invite you to read the intro below again and ask God to show you if you have any "left over manna" that is to be shared with others this week. If you're a new reader - Welcome!! There about 30 blogs to chose from after you read this intro.  I invite you to scroll through the titles and let God show you one to read today.  For all readers - I invite you to share this blog with others this week and invite them to join. I have sure been blessed to offer these blogs each week and love the comments and encouragement you all have provided.

May You All Be Blessed !!

Cindy ~

Over the years I have collected  and hauled around (in many large plastic storage tubs (to my husband’s delight!) testimonies, stories of God's works, essays, Bible studies, as well as man little nuggets I've heard, sermon notes that blessed me, and revelations from God during my walk through life. One day as I was being pressured to clean out the tubs I asked God what the purpose of all these notes and lessons were if I was the only one that had a chance to be blessed by them as I was about to throw them away.  His answer - "Well, let's consider these left over Manna. You should put them in a book."  Weird answer huh?  Which of course drove me to His Word.

Now, I had always been taught that manna was only good for one day - Not the whole truth! In Exodus 16:21-23 it reads “Each morning everyone gathered as much as they needed, and when the sun grew hot, it melted away. On the sixth day, they gathered twice as much - two omers (about 3 lbs)  for each person - and the leaders of the community came and reported this to Moses.  He said to them, This is what the Lord commanded: ‘Tomorrow is to be a day of Sabbath rest, a holy Sabbath to the Lord. So bake what you want to bake and boil what you want to boil. Save whatever is left and keep it until morning.’ ”  At the end of Exodus 16 you will also see that a portion of the manna was kept and preserved to be displayed later to the generations as a testimony of what God had done for them.

Back in 2008 there was a word given to me by some believers in a park church service we visited:  "I see you cooking, creating, or making "a recipe", and it will be a way to feed many, including the homeless which have been on your heart lately.”  My husband and I knew immediately they were confirming God’s word about the Manna project.  So, I have slowly been gathering info and praying while waiting to hear "Go" from God. Manna has always been on my mind especially when it was time to clean out my Bible.  Each piece of paper would be re-read and I’d literally hold it up in the air asking God, “Trash or Manna?”  Thankfully He was always clear.

At first I thought this project was supposed to be an actual book but, the collection and research never really produced a good format. I kept waiting; occasionally reviewing the contents and adding to it. Recently, I was drawn to think about this topic again and looked back to God’s 2008 words. Surprisingly, God revealed a new understanding. All He really said was “put them in a book”, which I did.  I have a set of two binders to hold the collections. He did not say “write a book”, as I had first interpreted. That’s probably why the format never clearly emerged. I’m so glad God is patient with me!! Well, now I believe to be God is saying - "it's time" and the format He has chosen is this blog.

Manna defined:
1. In the Bible, the food miraculously provided by God for the Israelites in the wilderness during their escape from slavery.
2. Spiritual nourishment of divine origin.
3. Something of value that a person receives unexpectedly.

~~ So, welcome to Left Over Manna.  A collection of manna I had been given by God to sustain me during seasons in my life to be shared with others and enjoyed on a Sabbath Day, when there is a need to rest instead of gather food.  And here, Manna will be preserved as a testimony to other generations.
“I have received full payment and have more than enough. I am amply supplied, now that I have received the gifts that were sent. They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God. And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus. To our God and Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.”  Philippians 4:18-20
