In 1
Peter 3:3-4 we read, “Do not let your beauty come from the outside.
It should not be the way you comb your hair or the wearing of gold or the
wearing of fine clothes. Your beauty should come from the inside. It
should come from the heart. This is the kind that lasts. Your beauty
should be a gentle and quiet spirit. In God’s sight this is of great worth and
no amount of money can buy it.” The Voice version
When I think of how God
sees me sometimes it’s as a child, sometimes His royal daughter, and sometimes
it’s as sunshine. Think about that last one - Sunshine; what if you are seen by
God as a spirit, and looked something like our Sun? Now, imagine if God had to travel to see you
and He saw the approach to you like this video… music and all. Sunrise Beauty Awaits
How did
that make you feel?
Honored Strong Attractive
Unworthy Ashamed Egotistical
If you felt the first
feelings – great! That’s how God made
you. If you felt some of the latter feelings -
you might be stuck in the wrong image of yourself.
This image you hold of
yourself doesn’t do any body any good. Suns were meant to shine. Suns were
meant to provide warmth and life giving properties. Suns operate from the core
and don’t worry about their surfaces or clouds in their way. They don’t worry
about what path is right or wrong, they stay the course God has set. We are Suns
(Sons) of God. And the best part of
getting this truth inside you is that you don’t have to try to be this - you
already are. Now live it!
I know that sounds so cliché.
Let me put it another way…Do you know the problem with mirrors? You have to
direct your attention only on them to see anything. Does the sun look at
itself? No. It just does its thing and
trusts that God has created them for a purpose. The sun is all about working
for its purpose and loving God. Suns also know that feelings can change from day to day but truth doesn't waiver. If the Sun said a prayer everyday it might be
what we read in Psalm 90:17, “Let the beauty
of the Lord our God clothe me, and establish my purpose.”
When I looked back to my leftover manna notes, I found a small note that just read, “Beauty Awaits”. I didn’t know what it meant and wondered what God would show me. Beauty awaits is what we need to know when we are having a tough day and clouds have blocked us. It’s the hope we need to get back to our true core and trust in God. Beauty awaits tells us that when the sun rises and when it sets, purpose is always
just on the other side of the
horizon. We are gorgeous reflections of the
beauty of God.
Use this excerpt from Psalm
27:4 as
your prayer today
“One thing I have asked
from the Lord, that will I seek after—
for me to dwell in the
house of the Lord all the days of my life,
to see the beauty
of the Lord, and to inquire in His temple.”
