After Further Review

In the sport of Tennis they employed a new technology several years ago called, “Hawkeye”.  This is a video that tracks the ball with each shot and it could be reviewed immediately, if disputed, to see where the ball actually landed; in or outside of the line. The same technology has been used in many other sports as well. It has re-shaped the reliance on human judges and ended the controversy of differing opinions.  The all seeing Hawkeye revealed the truth for all to see. It also became the last word for questionable calls, and those too close to call.

When things happen in our lives we might cast judgment on the situation without all of the information.  We can even let this instant judgment affect our next move, our relationships, and our emotional health. But why not ask for a review of the call? Pastor Erwin Ward urged us in his sermon back in 2012 to let God be the last word and override even the “officials” which have only cast a verdict on a season in real time.

Pastor Ward gave us a few tips on what to do when a seasonal call is imminent:
  - Take a time out.
  - Look at it from all angles.
  - Remember what happened isn’t what’s happening.
  - Look for a decision to be over turned, by Jesus.
  - Remind ourselves, our “light affliction” is the enemy’s plan.
  - God offers a future of hope.

Like Hawkeye, God sees the big picture and the small details. We do not.  Our judgment is clouded by emotion, past experiences, limited information, and prejudices. Having the new technology didn’t stop the player’s actions from happening in the first place, it could only judge the results after the fact.  Unlike Hawkeye, God can assist us before we act. He can guide our every step and our every swing at the ball. He can reveal to us the mysteries that He knows, if we trust in Him.

**Lord, forgive me for freaking out when circumstances seem hopeless. I know you see the end game and my sight is limited to just my side of the court. Thank you for reminding me that you are the only one that can make a clear judgment and thank you for guiding my steps.  You love me so much and always bring a new season to follow the last. Today, I put my hope in you and trust your call.**

“Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but later we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but when God arrives I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely.” 1 Corinthians 13:12 New Living Translation (NLT).
